Who We Help
The Center for New Directions at CSI is here for students who are juggling school with big life changes or responsibilities. We support:
- Single Parents – If you’re the main provider for your child and need job skills to support your family, we can help you find the right education and career path.
- Displaced Homemakers – If you’ve been a stay-at-home parent or caregiver but now need to work due to divorce, separation, or the loss of a spouse, we can guide you toward training and employment opportunities.
- Career Pioneers – If you're training for a job in a field where most workers are the opposite gender (like women in welding or men in nursing), we offer resources and support to help you succeed.
No matter where you’re starting from, we’re here to help you take the next step toward a stable and rewarding career.

Speaking the Language of Emotion - Building Stronger Connections at Home
Families often use limited or vague language to describe what they are feeling—words like mad, sad, or fine—which can lead to misunderstandings and disconnection. By expanding our emotional vocabulary, we create opportunities for deeper empathy, healthier communication, and stronger bonds within the home.
- Gain strategies for modeling healthy emotional expression with partners, children, and family members.
- Learn how to encourage open dialogue and emotional proficiency at home
- Build trust, resilience, and connection within your family system
Food and childcare will be provided. Students should RSVP with this form: https://forms.office.com/r/wJqELp3fdr
